‘Lazy’ Wolves star torn to shreds on MOTD as footage shows incident vs Leeds

Leeds beat Wolves 3-1 at Molineux to register their first away win of the season on Saturday.

Wolves started brightly with an early strike from Ladislav Krejci, but Leeds soon took control of the match with first-half goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Anton Stach and Noah Okafor.

The home side tried to fight back and had some good opportunities, but Leeds could have scored more and were deserved victors.

It means that Leeds now have seven points from their opening five games, while Wolves remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League with no points.

Danny Murphy keen to criticise lazy Wolves defending on Match of The Day

The turning point of the match came on 39 minutes when Leeds were awarded a free-kick after Calvert-Lewin was bundled over by Krejci on the edge of Wolves’ box.

With the score tied at 1-1, Stach bent the free-kick around the Wolves wall and into the top corner of the net. It was his first Premier League goal, and the first direct free-kick scored by Leeds in the top tier since May 2021.

When reviewing the game for Match of The Day, pundit Danny Murphy praised the technique shown by Stach to score the goal.

However, he was also very keen to criticise the role Wolves played in their own downfall.

He said: “This is just lazy, sloppy defending. It’s a silly free-kick to give away from Krejci on Calvert-Lewin. When there’s a free-kick there, you’re always going to give away chances.”

Murphy also suggested that the Wolves goalkeeper shouldn’t have beaten on the side of the goal he was supposed to be covering.

Leeds fans can be optimistic after a solid start to the season

It was a dream performance for Leeds at Molineux despite them conceding an early goal.

Daniel Farke’s side weren’t rocked by going behind early in the game and ended up as comfortable winners.

With their second win of the season secured, Leeds fans may start to become a bit more optimistic about what they can achieve this season.

They have a generous run of fixtures coming up and should be confident of adding to their points tally in September and October.

The main worry among supporters was the lack of firepower in the side, but they were far more clinical in front of goal at Molineux.

With a solid defence and an improving attack, Leeds fans can begin to dream about thriving in the Premier League rather than simply surviving.

It seems they’ll need to keep Stach and Calvert-Lewin fit to keep performing to their full potential though. These two were at the heart of everything that Leeds did well in attack on Saturday.
