Jon Newsome shares one ‘whinge’ he had in Leeds United win v Stoke City

Jon Newsome shared that the only “whinge” he had about the performance of Leeds United in their Championship victory over Stoke on Boxing Day was that they didn’t score more goals.

Daniel Farke’s men cruised to yet another Championship victory at the bet365 Stadium as they triumphed 2-0 over the Potters.

The Whites now sit at the top of the table thanks to their higher goal difference over second-placed Sheffield United.

Speaking live on BBC Radio Leeds (26 December, 22:00), former Leeds man Newsome shared his thoughts on the game after the full-time whistle was blown.

“Boos from Stoke fans, cheers from Leeds fans who put away their away day hoodoo,” Newsome said.

“Very comfortable night, I do not think you’re going to get a much more comfortable evening away from home in the Championship.

“The only whinge you could have is that they didn’t score more”.

Leeds United could be on their way to Championship promotion

Since the start of the season, Leeds have been one of the favourites to earn promotion to the Premier League.

They almost managed it at the first time of asking last season but we all know how that ended up.

The Whites have been in impressive form across most of the campaign and it feels like they’re the team to beat at the moment.

As aforementioned, they now sit at the top of the table and seem to be well on their way to earning promotion, albeit a season later than they’d hoped.

Of course, there’s still plenty of the term left to go and things can change in an instant in football but at the moment, things couldn’t be going much better.

Farke has done a stellar job with the West Yorkshire outfit this term and if things continue like this for the foreseeable future, it’s hard to see how they won’t be one of the two teams to earn automatic promotion.

In other Leeds news, the future of Illan Meslier is now surely sealed after the latest transfer news that has emerged.
