Joe Hart slams Daniel Farke outburst after Leeds loss vs Man City: ‘I don’t think he’s allowed to say that’

Joe Hart has defended Gianluigi Donnarumma’s antics in Manchester City’s 3-2 win over Leeds United despite Daniel Farke’s criticism on Saturday.

Phil Foden spared Man City’s blushes with a late winner against Leeds at the Etihad, all but ensuring that the Whites will enter December in the Premier League’s relegation zone.

Ahead of the game, Tim Sherwood claimed that Farke will be sacked in the coming days, with the Yorkshire giants set to face Chelsea and Liverpool in their next two fixtures.

And after full-time, Farke did seem like a man under pressure as he bemoaned Man City’s time-wasting tactics to stop Leeds getting back into the game when the hosts were 2-1 up.

Daniel Farke’s rant about Pep Guardiola’s tactics

Ruben Dias was accused of signalling for Donnarumma to go down injured in the second half, allowing for the Man City physio to come on and Pep Guardiola to hold a quickfire team meeting.

Keith Hackett claimed that Man City’s were “cheating” against Leeds, slamming the feigning of injuries so that managers could catch up with their players.

Farke wasn’t happy at all after the game, saying: “Everyone knows why he went down.

“It is not the elephant in the room. Why he went down it was obvious. It is within the rules. It is smart. If I like it? If it’s within the sense of fair play? If it should be like this I will keep to myself. It is up to the authorities to find a solution.

“I ask the fourth official at this point if you want to do something. Our hands are tied.

“If we don’t educate our players in football what to do in terms of fair play and sportsmanship and whatever and if we just try to bend the rules and even do a fake injury in order to do an additional team talk, it is not what I like personally. But if it is within the rules I can’t complain.”

Joe Hart hits back at Daniel Farke, Danny Murphy less than impressed

On Match of the Day, pundits Joe Hart and Danny Murphy seemed to be in disagreement over what Donnarumma and Man City did to try and halt Leeds’ momentum.

Murphy called the whole incident “a tactical meeting”, while ex-Man City goalkeeper – who you might accuse of being biased – questioned Farke’s authority to talk about players’ injuries.

“I don’t know how he’s medically allowed to say Donnarumma wasn’t injured. He might have been feeling his hamstring, but it’s not something we haven’t seen before,” said Hart on Match of the Day on Saturday night.

“You don’t win that many Premier Leagues and that many titles without knowing the rules.

Murphy then chimed in to add: “He was alright when he ran to celebrate the goal like an Olympic sprinter.”

What next for Leeds?

After losing on Saturday – and Burnley’s defeat to Brentford – Leeds will finish the game week in 18th place and on 11 points.

The Whites could move up to 17th on Sunday if West Ham lose by more than three goals against Liverpool.

Chelsea are up next for United on Wednesday night at Elland Road, before a tough run of fixtures ends against Liverpool in West Yorkshire on Saturday evening.

Unless he achieves one or two incredible results, the writing does look as though it’s on the wall for Farke.
