Jim Beglin slams Leeds United defender Stuart Dallas in defeat v Manchester City

Leeds United suffered an embarrassing 7-0 defeat against Manchester City in the Premier League on Tuesday evening at the Etihad Stadium.

The Premier League champions took their game to a whole new level and demolished Leeds right from the first whistle. It was relentless and scintillating at the same time.

Phil Foden scored the opening goal, but Leeds defended poorly.

Jim Beglin, while commentating on the Premier League production, shared his reaction for the opening goal: “You can’t keep making mistakes. I think Meslier should deal with this a lot better. He should be gathering that.

“Then Dallas was in position. Dallas goes to the line thinking I’ll defend it, and he completely miskicks it, Dallas having a nightmare on the goal line as well.”

Humiliation

Leeds were taught a lesson on both their trips to Manchester this season. However, this defeat will hurt them badly.

They were no match against their rivals. While City were extraordinarily good, Leeds also allowed them to dominate the game.

Without Liam Cooper, Kalvin Phillips, and Patrick Bamford, the Whites lacked leadership on the pitch. They just fell apart.

For the first goal, Illan Meslier made a big mistake. He should have dealt with Phil Foden’s effort, but the ball skipped past him.

However, Stuart Dallas was still in the right position to clear the ball away. However, he completely miskicked it.

Against an opponent of this calibre, you simply cannot afford to make schoolboy errors. Leeds got rightly punished.

It was Man City’s second Premier League match under Pep Guardiola in which they scored seven goals or more.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay says the Whites intend to sign a midfielder in January after a major development on Monday.
