Jayden Bogle reacts to Sheffield United defeat after huge Leeds win
Jayden Bogle was the star of the show for Leeds United as they sealed a huge 2-1 win against Preston at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.
The defender scored the second goal early in the first half to secure the win, as the Whites returned to the top of the Championship, level with Burnley.
While Leeds were taking care of business in Yorkshire, Sheffield United fell to their third consecutive defeat, losing 2-1 at Plymouth to create a five-point gap to third.

Sheffield United falling apart
Bogle, obviously signed from Sheffield United, kept coy when reacting to his former side’s loss, despite it placing one hand on promotion for Leeds.
Speaking live on Matchday Live on Leeds United’s YouTube channel, Michael Bridges and Stuart Dallas quizzed the defender on the reaction inside Elland Road to Plymouth’s goals and win.
“I was that focused on the game, I didn’t even notice,” he said.
“It was just one of those games where you’ve just got to keep going until the final whistle, and I think all the boys did that today.”
Leeds United bounce back at key time in Championship
After dropping points and drawing 1-1 at Luton Town last week, everyone involved at Leeds were gutted as they fell to third in the Championship.
Nobody would have predicted that Sheffield United would then go on to lose against Oxford, Millwall and Plymouth in one week, leaving Chris Wilder raging.
As well as those defeats for Wilder, he was forced to watch Leeds and Daniel Farke bounce back with huge wins over Middlesbrough and Preston.
It was never going to be easy, everyone knew that, but the last couple of months since the win at Bramall Lane have been torture at times.
Championship table (top three) | Games played | Goal difference | Points |
1 Leeds | 42 | 53 | 88 |
2 Burnley | 42 | 44 | 88 |
3 Sheffield Utd | 42 | 24 | 83 |
Farke was facing serious pressure at the prospect of playoff football again at Elland Road, and although there is still a job to be done, he will feel calm now.
Easter weekend rarely goes well for Leeds, but if they can break that duck this season against Oxford and Stoke, promotion will be in the bag.
Six points and any dropped points from Sheffield United will secure promotion, fingers crossed it’s done early.
