Jayden Bogle mesmerises – Leeds United player ratings in 2-0 win v QPR

Leeds United cruised to a 2-0 victory against Queens Park Rangers in the Championship on Saturday.

Elland Road hosted the Hoops on 9 November as the Whites cut the gap to table-toppers Sunderland down to two points before the international break.

Daniel Farke made three changes for the game, starting Manor Solomon and Mateo Joseph, as well as Sam Byram coming in for the suspended Junior Firpo.

Jayden Bogle opened the scoring for the hosts before Joel Piroe sealed the victory in second-half stoppage time for the Whites.

Here are our player ratings for the fixture:

Illan Meslier – 5

Calm playing the ball out the back. Didn’t have much to do, but still should have commanded his area much better with his lack of communication.

Jayden Bogle – 9

Consistently threatened QPR’s defence with some brilliant crosses. He scored the opener after a scramble in the opposition box. He was an attacking threat, making some mesmerising runs into the opposition box.

Joe Rodon – 7

Swept up threats at the back. He was calm on the ball and kept the QPR attackers at bay. Didn’t let the forward players get past him.

Pascal Struijk – 6

Cleared his lines when needed. He was a threat in the opposition box as well but did have a few shakey moments with Meslier at the back.

Sam Byram – 4

Picked up an early yellow card. Didn’t have the best of first halves as the QPR attackers targeted him, and was sloppy in possession, unlike his usual self.

Joe Rothwell – 8

Played in the cross that led to the first goal. He was the link between the defence and attack. Had 94 per cent passing accuracy, played 12 passes into the final third and created one chance, as per FotMob.

Ao Tanaka – 7

Switched the play on multiple occasions with some impressive long balls. Had a shot blocked by the QPR defence when his first goal for the club was begging. Made some tactical fouls to stifle the opposition, but did commit a big error towards the end.

Wilfried Gnonto – 7

Was lively for most of the game. Was a constant threat on the wings, mainly setting up chances again rather than putting himself into positions to score.

Manor Solomon fizzles for Leeds United v QPR

Manor Solomon – 5

Carried the ball well in the midfield at times. But he was rash with his dribbling and a bit too aggressive in his challenges. Should’ve doubled Leeds’ lead at the hour mark after a one-on-one with the keeper. Had an xG of 0.08 as per FotMob.

Brenden Aaronson – 8

Showed his flair in the attacking third. Pressed QPR from the front. Had a few pots at goal and should’ve maybe done better with some of the chances. Played some impressive passes to cut through the opposition’s defence.

Mateo Joseph – 5

He was tenacious up front. Didn’t have a lot of opportunities on the ball. But when it did come to him, his hold-up play wasn’t the best. Subbed off at the 70th-minute mark.

Subs

Joel Piroe – 7

Couldn’t make much of an impact initially, but scored the game’s second with a brilliant finish.

Daniel James – 5

Didn’t have a lot to do but did play in some good crosses.

Josuha Guilavogui – 5

Came on in the final minutes to hold onto the lead.

Isaac Schmidt – 6

Was critical in creating the second goal.
