Jayden Bogle faces full fury for what he was seen doing in Leeds United v Burnley
Dean Ashton slammed Leeds United defender Jayden Bogle for his defending in the build-up to Burnley’s first-half goal at Elland Road.
Luca Koleosho profited from some poor home defending in Saturday’s contest (14 September) to put Burnley a goal up after 18 minutes.
Speaking on talkSPORT 2’s live coverage of the game [14 September, 12:50pm], Ashton questioned Bogle in particular.
“Bogle had a dilemma for the goal,” Ashton said. “Does he go to the ball, or instead hold his position so that Anthony doesn’t get the ball?
“I’m sorry, but at some point you have to come across if you’re Bogle and put pressure on the ball. He doesn’t do that – he just hangs back and hangs back, let’s Koleosho go into the penalty area and he has time to pick his spot.
“It’s made easy for him by Bogle, but he still made sure of the advantage.”
Burnley profit from poor Leeds United defending
Koleosho profited from a slip and then ran half the length of the field before picking his spot past Ilian Meslier in the Leeds goal.
Ashton has a point regarding the defending of Bogle, who just did not know whether to come across to the Burnley right or hold his position.
In fairness to the summer signing, he was left with two men to cover. Had that not been the case, he would have got right across.

As it is, though, he did little of anything and instead Koleosho get a powerful low shot away that beat Meslier before he could even react.
The bigger question is whether Bogle could have jumped on top of the ball – not quite literally – before Koleosho pulled the trigger?
That was the first goal Leeds have conceded since the opening weekend, and mistakes can of course happen, but Daniel Farke will not be pleased with what he saw in those 20 seconds or so.
In other Leeds United news, Mateo Joseph was slammed for something he did in the Burnley game.
