Jamie Carragher loves what he’s seen from ‘special’ Leeds ace Joe Gelhardt

Jamie Carragher thinks Leeds have got a ‘special talent’ on their hands with Joe Gelhardt, he shared while doing commentary live on Sky Sports.

The Liverpool legend was doing co-commentator duties for the Whites’ trip to Molineux against Wolves, where they suffered a horror first-half that saw them forced into three substitutions and 2-0 down.

One of those injuries was Patrick Bamford early on, but when Jesse Marsch brought on Sam Greenwood instead of Gelhardt Carragher was baffled, and after learning that he was injured in the week was quick to offer him praise.

“Yeah maybe that’s it,” he admitted. “He’s a special talent, there’s no doubt.”

Big praise from a big player, but Gelhardt and Leeds will be wishing he was fit enough to make a big impact on the game considering he is on the bench.

Bright

Gelhardt missed much of training this week with a back issue according to Sky Sports and while he was on the bench, not being brought on shows that he isn’t really able to play.

His energy, passion and ability to be a nuisance to defenders was really missed after Bamford was forced off, with Greenwood very inexperienced and far less robust in his style.

But while Leeds are facing not being in the top flight next season if they keep losing games, the club can trust they have a top young talent at the club willing to give his all.

Gelhardt is likely to see much more regular football next season regardless of what division they’re in and the fans will be delighted to see him turning out in the famous white shirt.

He’s certainly got a bright future and if you didn’t know before, Carragher has ensured you do now.
