Jamie Carragher blown away by duo who ‘made Leeds look like Real Madrid’ vs Everton
Jamie Carragher was particularly impressed with two players in Leeds United’s draw against Everton.
Leeds United picked up a point in a 1-1 draw against Everton on Monday night, despite having taken the lead through James Justin.
The Whites dominated the first 45 minutes of the clash, but failed to take the chances as they came, with Thierno Barry’s equaliser forcing them to regret that.
However, throughout that spell of domination, Carragher was particularly impressed with two of Leeds United’s stars.
Leeds’ defensive duo hailed for Everton display
Brenden Aaronson was a difference-maker for Leeds in the first half at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday, as he has been on several occasions already this season.
However, it was the two wing-backs that caught the attention of Carragher early into their clash with the Toffees.
James Justin opened the scoring after 28 minutes for Leeds, while Jayden Bogle was a constant threat up and down the right flank.
Bogle and Justin’s combined stats vs Everton
- Seven tackles won
- 13 duels won
- Two chances created
- Three blocks
The duo were often crucial in the Whites’ transitional play, and earned ultimate praise from Carragher for their involvement in the game.
Via Sky Sports, he said: “Everton have made Leeds look like Real Madrid, they are in their all-white, and that is what they have looked like. The wing-backs in particular have caused huge problems.”
Leeds have easy Ben Chilwell decision after Everton clash
Justin was starting the game in the absence of Gabriel Gudmundsson, who isn’t expected to be out for an extended period of time.
Of course, the Sweden international will almost certainly come straight back into the starting 11 when fit, though Justin’s performance will have Farke assured that a deal for Ben Chillwell isnt needed.
Chilwell had been loosely linked with a move to Elland Road off the back of Gudmundsson’s injury, but given the likely finances involved in a deal, matched with the performance of Justin, there is no reason for the Whites to pursue a deal.
With that said, Leeds did again struggle to create too much against the Toffees from open play, perhaps showcasing the need for them to prioritise the arrival of another attacking player.
