James Debayo spotted with Leeds United squad for clash v Middlesbrough

James Debayo has been spotted arriving for Leeds United ahead of the clash against Middlesbrough, according to Adam Pope.

The BBC journalist reported on 14 August that the 19-year-old has arrived with Alex Cairns and the rest of the squad that faced Portsmouth at Elland Road.

This will have come as a surprise for supporters given that the defender’s last and only time he featured in a matchday squad was as an unused sub v Wolves in 2022 [Transfermarkt].

James Debayo could feature for Leeds United v Middlesbrough

The Whites have had an up-and-down transfer window but are somewhat lacking in the centre-back position for their cup clash.

Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk started against Pompey but Daniel Farke may be keen to utilise some squad rotation.

This is especially going to be the case considering that Leeds face West Brom away from home on Saturday (17 August) at 12:30pm.

As a result, Debayo could be in line to make his first-ever appearance for the Leeds first team, two years after making his last matchday squad.

The ex-England youth international would come in as an unknown quantity for many supporters but could be an exciting time to make his debut.

Most fans aren’t delighted to see Max Wober return to the team at Elland Road and as a result, the 19-year-old could become a favourite quite quickly.

It is unclear whether or not Debayo will feature in Farke’s side and it will be interesting to see if he is awarded that chance.
