‘It’s weird’ – Cascarino states one thing is strange about current Leeds side heading to PL
talkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino has said “it’s weird” that the current Leeds United side is getting so much love from neutrals.
Leeds are currently experiencing a love-in from the wider football world, with fans of rival clubs looking forward to seeing Marcelo Bielsa in the Premier League.
Cascarino himself has said he’s looking forward to Leeds in the top-flight because of the attacking football they’re set to unleash on big clubs.
Talking on Sunday Sports Breakfast (talkSPORT, Sunday, 8am) Cascarino said, “It’s weird seeing Leeds being so loved.
“Bielsa is such an oddball. I got to learn a lot about him from his time at Marseilles. From his training sessions and things that happened behind the scenes. Fans absolutely loved him.
“I’m excited to see a Leeds team that will come to the Premier League with a plan and won’t change it because of what you do.
“This isn’t a bland team coming up to the Premier League, he’ll be going after teams.”
Leeds chief Angus Kinnear has set out the stall for the club next season.
In a brilliant interview, he said, “I think next year the team will go out every week and play swashbuckling, attacking football. We will show absolutely no fear.” [Yorkshire Evening Post]
And Leeds have already shown that they can mix it with the Premier League big boys when they gave Arsenal an almighty scare in the FA Cup game in January.
Leeds completely dominated the game in the first 45 minutes and took the game to Arsenal in a thrilling display of attacking football.
Not everyone likes Leeds, though.
Jeremy Cross in the Daily Star ploughed some tired, old tropes when he slammed Leeds fans for celebrating their Championship title win last week.
He said Leeds needed to learn some manners before playing in the Premier League next season.
We can ignore trolls like that who are intent on mining the clicks from some fans who begrudge anyone any success.
We’ll look forward, like Cascarino and many others, to Leeds and Bielsa looking to crack the mystery of the top-flight. It’s set to be an exciting season.
