Isaac Schmidt spotted as Leeds fringe player left out of squad v Man United

Leeds will take on Manchester United on Saturday in their first pre-season friendly of the summer.

Daniel Farke has brought in numerous new faces to Elland Road, who he will be looking to see perform in Stockholm, Sweden.

On top of this, the friendly against the Red Devils may be a chance for many of the Peacocks’ fringe players to show their manager that they deserve a chance to shine in the Premier League

Isaac Schmidt is one such player who will be looking to impress Farke this pre-season.

Isaac Schmidt spotted on touchline vs Manchester United

Schmidt has had little luck since he moved to Leeds in 2024.

The Swiss left-back rarely featured under Farke last season, only making 14 appearances in all competitions.

Schmidt has admitted that he will have to bide his time if he is to receive regular game time at Leeds.

Farke preferred other options over Schmidt last season

However, if the 25-year-old planned to show himself off to Farke this pre-season, he will have to wait a bit longer.

Journalist Issac Johnson confirmed via X (19 July), that Schmidt was spotted on the Leeds touchline for the friendly against Man United.

The full-back was unable to play a part on the pitch against the Red Devils due to a minor knock.

Farke should give Schmidt a chance this pre-season

Once Schmidt is fit once again, Farke should look to give the full-back a runout this pre-season.

The left-back could play a role in the upcoming campaign, and given Leeds’ issues at left-back, he could prove himself to be a decent option in the upcoming campaign.

Pre-season is all about testing the squad and identifying potential issues and solutions, and Schmidt could prove himself to be the answer to the Yorkshire club’s options.

Hopefully, over the coming weeks, the left-back will be tested by Farke to see if he is ready to make the step up into the English top-flight.
