‘Is there anything he can’t do?’ – These Leeds fans loving one player in 2-1 win v Luton
Ben White, so often the hero at the back for Leeds United, turned creator against Luton early in the second half on Saturday afternoon – and fans were loving what they saw from their loan star at Kenilworth Road.
He found Patrick Bamford who finally got his first goal in open play since August after 51 minutes – and a fine finish it was too.
That gave Leeds the lead after a first-half when they had nine shots, five on target, but couldn’t find the breakthrough.
Leeds don’t let many goals in, but we were worried about Izzy Brown before the game and he came back to haunt his former club.
He found space out on the right and put in a cross that found James Collins who finished with a bullet header to equalise just three minutes after Leeds had taken the lead.
Luton thought they’d taken the lead minutes later but the offside flag came to the rescue and Marcelo Bielsa reacted by taking Gaetano Berardi off and putting Liam Cooper on.
Pablo Hernandez laid on another chance for Bamford but he couldn’t take it – these are the moments when we need Eddie Nketiah but the Arsenal loanee is still out injured.
Jack Clarke got his first minutes in the Championship late on and it was all Leeds… and this time the hard work paid off. Bamford thought he’d got his second of the game after a cross from Mateusz Klich, but it was given as an own goal by Matt Pearson.
West Brom won with a late penalty and they stay top but Preston lost and that means Leeds go into second with a three-point gap down to third.

The fixtures come thick and fast now, with Leeds in action against Reading away on Tuesday night.
In other Leeds United news, Permanent move for £7.5m-rated striker seems unlikely, but could he do a job on loan?
