Illan Meslier spotted at Elland Road as early Leeds United team news emerges v Manchester City
Illan Meslier has arrived at Elland Road ahead of Leeds United versus Manchester City in the Premier League on Wednesday night, according to Beren Cross.
The LeedsLive journalist spotted Meslier, 22, ahead of the match amid doubts about his fitness.
The Athletic journalist Phil Hay had previously reported that Joel Robles could start in goals against Man City with Frenchman Meslier suffering from glandular fever.
It doesn’t mean that Meslier will be starting in goals but the fact he’s there and with the squad suggests that he may well be in the matchday squad.
Meslier missed the mid-season friendlies due to his illness with Robles and Kristoffer Klaesson playing in the games against Elche, Real Sociedad and Monaco.
Robles is way more experienced than Klaesson so it would make sense for him to play over the Norwegian youngster, who’s only played once for Leeds when he came on as a substitute at Wolves last season.
Meslier needs to start and we hope he does.
Erling Haaland is bound to have a field day against our joke of a defence anyway but at least Meslier should be able to keep the score a tad respectable.
With Robles in goals, we’d be less confident.
