Ian Wright reacts to Nketiah winner

When the official Leeds Twitter account asked who was making the trip to Elland Road on Wednesday night, it probably wasn’t expecting to get a reply from Ian Wright.

However, that’s what happened, with the Arsenal legend on his way up to the game to keep an eye on loanee Eddie Nketiah.

Wright had to wait until the 77th minute to see the young Arsenal striker in action but he wasn’t disappointed.

Marcelo Bielsa’s subs worked a treat with Helder Costa racing down the right before crossing the ball to find Nketiah with an open goal.

It was a simple tap-in for the youngster but what a way to introduce yourself to the Elland Road faithful. It took him just four minutes to make his mark and he looked so sharp, and seems to fit the Bielsa system so well, he surely can’t be far off a start.

Wright celebrated the goal in style, posting a short video of him signing “Eddie! Eddie Eddie!” along with the crowd.

This is what Leeds didn’t have last season – a striker who can make an impact like this from the bench and the relief around Elland Road when the goal went in was palpable.

Elland Road has found itself a new hero. The next question is, will he have done enough to get a start away at Stoke on Saturday?
