Michael Owen has predicted that Leeds United will suffer a defeat at the hands of Manchester City at Elland Road on Saturday evening.
Marcelo Bielsa’s men have won their last two matches after seeing off Fulham and Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United.
However, Pep Guardiola’s Man City will offer a huge challenge to the Whites and although ex-Liverpool striker Owen sees the Yorkshire club impressing once again, he cannot see past a win for the away side.
“Leeds have been a tremendous watch, so far,” said Owen on the BetVictor website.
“You must admire their gun-slinging approach to games and if they can rattle Manchester City with their high press, I wouldn’t put it past Bielsa’s men to get something out of the game.
“However, if any team can beat that press it’s Manchester City and that could lead to a difficult evening for the home team. 4-1 to the Citizens is my prediction.”
So you say there’s a chance?
Most people might agree with Owen but there’s every chance that Leeds can punish a really dodgy defence.
Man City will be eager to bounce back from their heavy defeat to Leicester last weekend and Leeds could be set to feel the brunt of that.
However, this is a free hit and after two wins on the bounce, Leeds can go out and enjoy themselves.
We prefer to go with Ian Wright’s prediction of a surprise win for Leeds.
We’re expecting an exciting game and we are expecting plenty of goals from two teams whose defences have come under close scrutiny in the last few weeks.
Man City should win this match but the fact there’s very little expectation and pressure on Leeds’ shoulders and that could see them do well in the way they did against Liverpool on the opening day.
It’s going to be a good game, that’s for sure. A win for Leeds would really turn heads.
In other Leeds United news, this Leeds-linked midfielder is now set to join AC Milan.
