‘I won’t ever forget’ – Jamie Redknapp makes claim about Leeds in the Premier League

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has said that he “won’t ever forget” the noise that the Leeds United fans can make and that Premier League players are set to find out just how “intimidating” playing at Elland Road can be.

Leeds are back in the Premier League for the first time since they were relegated in 2004 and Redknapp also paid tribute to manager Marcelo Bielsa for finally delivering the club back to the top-flight.

Writing in his column in the Daily Mail Redknapp said, “The first time I faced Leeds United in the Premier League was at Elland Road as a Liverpool player in August 1992.

“I won’t ever forget the noise that iconic ground could make.

“We drew 2-2. Playing at Elland Road was always intimidating and a lot of Premier League players will discover that.

“Marcelo Bielsa’s reputation among his fellow managers is second to none and I’m not sure he will rip up his style of play because he’s now battling with the big boys. Leeds gave Arsenal a run for their money in the FA Cup earlier this season, remember.

“Bielsa will do it his way. This promotion will reignite so many Premier League rivalries. Welcome home, Leeds.”

The Leeds fans have already missed out on cheering their team back to the Premier League.

Liverpool fans know how this feels after also being locked out of Anfield for their incredible Premier League-winning run.

The good news is that it looks like fans will be allowed back into stadiums in October, albeit in reduced numbers.

That will pose a problem for Leeds, who will have to decide how to apportion tickets with half the stadium taken by season ticket holders.

However, getting any fans back in Elland Road is better than none. We’re starting to get used to watching football on TV with no fans, but the difference when you watch a broadcast of an old game, with fans, is absolutely startling.

The first game back at Elland Road with fans will be absolutely sensational and we can’t wait to see the 20/21 fixture list.

Leeds v Man United in October? We can but dream.
