'I just don't understand' - Sky Sports pundit baffled by what he saw in Leeds loss v Fulham
Sky Sports pundit Michael Brown has blasted referee Tim Robinson for awarding Fulham a penalty in their 2-1 win against Leeds United on Saturday.
Ben White was adjudged to have fouled Bobby Reid in the penalty area in the first half but replays have suggested that there was nowhere near enough contact for it to be flagged by the referee.
Aleksandar Mitrovic scored from the resulting spot-kick to see Fulham on their way to victory at Craven Cottage and end Leeds’ 11-match unbeaten run.
Ex-Leeds player Brown could not believe that the contact between White and Reid led to Fulham being awarded a penalty.
“I just don’t understand what the referee sees,” said Brown on EFL on Quest on Saturday night.
“Yes, there’s a slight bit of contact but we’ve got to have a bit of contact. He falls to his knees. There’s no way Ben White [fouled him], that’s never a penalty.
“No wonder Leeds United will be disappointed because there’s an uphill task against a strong Fulham side.”
You cannot disagree with Brown on this.
Leeds were on the wrong side of an appalling decision by the referee on Saturday and if that had not happened, it would have been a very different game.
And then, if you look at the West Brom game, Slaven Bilic’s side should have conceded a penalty against Brentford for a blatant handball by Kyle Bartley.
Where is the consistency? And why does it always seem to be Leeds who are getting the poor decisions each week?
