‘I have no doubt’ – Angus Kinnear reacts to anti-Leeds Sky Sports incident, hints at revenge

Leeds United chief Angus Kinnear has delivered an absolutely brilliant response to Sky Sports after the broadcaster decided to pipe in the “Leeds is falling apart” song in the recent 5-0 win over Stoke.

The song was played almost on a loop, much to the annoyance of Leeds fans who pointed out they were playing at home.

Kinnear hinted at revenge when he said that he’s sure the fans will reciprocate when they’re allowed back in stadiums.

That’s in reference to the anti-Sky song that’s been popularised in the Elland Road stands.

He also said that the Leeds players had embraced the challenge of the EFL scheduling, which had seen Leeds play last in every game week in the run-in since the season restart.

Writing in the Leeds programme notes ahead of the game against Barnsley, Kinnear said, “Sky Sports seeming to pipe ‘Leeds are falling apart again’ over the broadcast feed (which I have no doubt will be reciprocated when crowds return) and a fixture list which has contrived to repeatedly force us to play after our immediate rivals (a challenge the squad has chosen to embrace) will provide even more motivation to reach our goal.

“It will make getting there taste even sweeter.”

Watch out Sky

What an immense response from Kinnear.

We’re loving the way the club is being run at the moment and we love the subtle humour and pure Leeds attitude that comes from Kinnear in his regular programme notes.

If Sky thought it was funny to pipe in the Leeds Are Falling Apart song then we hope they find it just as funny when we bellow out the anti-Sky song that they desperately try and mute every time it’s sung.

Because, if it wasn’t already going to be on loop with the fans, this call to action will ensure it’s the most sung song at Elland Road when the TV cameras are there.

And we expect them to be there a lot. Leeds are going to be a huge draw in the Premier League and despite the best efforts of the fixture list, it looks like Leeds are going to be there for the 20/21 season.

And, if Elland Road is only allowed to be at 25% capacity next season, Sky are going to be in for a surprise when they see how loud almost 10,000 Leeds fans can be.
