‘I fancy…’ – Mark Lawrenson predicts score and winner in Leeds clash v Tottenham
BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson has predicted that Tottenham will beat Leeds United 2-0 on Saturday in the Premier League.
He said that Leeds had suffered with Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha being sidelined against Brighton and predicted that they would struggle again if the pair were missing at the weekend.
Marcelo Bielsa has said that both players will be subject to a late fitness test.
Writing in his regular column on the BBC Lawrenson said, “Leeds were pretty poor in their defeat at Brighton last week when they missed injured duo Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha.
“Both of them are doubts for this game and it would definitely mean advantage to Tottenham if they miss out again.
“I fancy Harry Kane and Son Heung-min to cause Leeds plenty of problems, and Spurs to leave with the points.”
Phillips & Raphinha are key
We know it won’t be easy on Saturday.
Kane, Son and Bale are arguably the best attacking threesome in the Premier League at the moment, and have been let off the leash after Jose Mourinho’s exit.
Leeds, meanwhile, have been blunted with the loss of Helder Costa and Raphinha and never looked like scoring against Brighton.
The Tottenham game could be a bit different, though. If Tottenham attack then it could turn into a slugfesrt, which would suit us.
It’s also at Elland Road and we think that Leeds could spring a surprise.
Bielsa will be looking for a big reaction from his players and Phillips and Raphinha aren’t definitely out of the game.
If both of them play then we think Leeds have got a good chance of going toe-to-toe with Spurs.
