We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United
Paul Robinson thinks that Leeds will tear Newcastle apart at St James’ Park today, predicting a 3-0 win in what he called a “huge game for both sides”.
Leeds get the midweek game week underway with a 6pm kick-off on Tuesday after a 10-day break following their last match against Brighton.
That was a hugely disappointing 1-0 defeat, with Ben White showing us what we’re missing from midfield.
However, Robinson thinks it’s the perfect time to play Newcastle, who haven’t won since getting smashed 5-2 by Leeds back in December.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Robinson said, “It’s a huge game for both sides.
“Leeds were absolutely awful against Crawley and I was expecting some sort of reaction in the game against Brighton.
“That didn’t come and I thought they were poor again and didn’t create anywhere near the sort of chances they normally do.
“So it’s as big a game for Leeds as it is for Newcastle.
“It’s probably a good time to play Newcastle, though. They were poor against Aston Villa and they’re in a really bad run of form.
“I can see Leeds going there and winning easily. I can’t see Newcastle getting a point or a win anywhere at the moment, their confidence is rock bottom.
“I think Leeds will tear Newcastle apart the way they did West Brom. I’m going to go for a 3-0 Leeds win.”
A 3-0 win would be just what the doctor ordered for Leeds and would see us on 26 points at the midway point of the season.
That would be a fantastic achievement and leave Newcastle staring over their shoulders at the bottom three.
