‘Huge boost’ – Exclusive: Pundit thrilled by early Leeds team news v Leicester
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson has said that it’s a “huge boost” for Leeds to have Liam Cooper back for the game against Leicester at Elland Road tonight.
Cooper was declared fit by Marcelo Bielsa in Friday’s pre-match press conference and while he didn’t say he would start, the thinking is that he will come straight back into the side.
That will see Luke Ayling back in his right-back slot and Stuart Dallas on the left, while Gjanni Alioksi would drop to the bench.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Robinson said, “It’s a huge boost to get Cooper back. The sooner that him and Robin Koch can establish a partnership the better.
“I think they’re only going to go from strength to strength.
“When you’ve got just one playing it’s a bit-part defence, they’ve got new partners every week.
“I always used to prefer playing with a solid centre-back pairing in front of me.
“It might be stating the obvious but you get to know their games, you know what they’re going to do, you know their mannerisms, you know what’s coming, you know when to cover.
“Having both of these players fit is only going to benefit Leeds United.”
Leeds are in 12th at the moment after the majority of Premier League sides played this weekend but they can go third with a win.
Leicester will go into second in the league if they win.
It’s set to be a fascinating game and it’s like on Sky Sports, with Mauricio Pochettino joining Jamie Carragher to dissect the game on Monday Night Football.
