Leeds United fans have been waiting a long time to get a good glimpse of what Ian Poveda can do since he signed in January.

They got it today as he starred for the Under-23s on a thoroughly miserable pitch at Oakwell.

With the score at 0-0 midway through the second half, Poveda made the opener for Leeds.

He started the move himself, picking the ball up and turning past one Barnsley player with a great bit of trickery.

After passing the ball he carried on the run, picked the ball up, took one touch and played the ball in for Bobby Kamwa to finish smartly from close range.

We were at the game and it was the standout moment on what was a drab afternoon, despite Leeds starting five first-teamers.

Barnsley equalised from the penalty spot and despite Leeds pushing for a winner the game ended 1-1.

Leeds posted the clip of the Kamwa goal up on its official Twitter page shortly after Poveda was subbed off, and plenty of fans now want to see their new signing doing this for the first team.

Poveda hasn’t even made the bench for the past seven Leeds games but there doesn’t look to be a lot wrong with him at the moment.

He’s definitely got the skills and one fan said he looked like “Prime Romario”.

Here are the best reactions to his outstanding effort today…

Our verdict?

We don’t think he can be far off Bielsa fitness but it still seems odd that he didn’t make the bench on Saturday given Leeds only had Tyler Roberts as an attacking option.

As one for the future? As one Leeds fan eloquently put it, “Hubba hubba”!
