How the Championship is tipped to finish by Andy Hinchcliffe after Leeds, Fulham and Baggies win
Leeds United, West Brom and Fulham all won their midweek fixtures and it keeps things tighter than Whites fans would like at the top.
West Brom are four points above Leeds who have a five-point buffer back to Fulham in third.
However, for Sky Sports pundit Andy Hinchcliffe, there are only two teams for the automatic promotion spots.
He said that Leeds and West Brom will finish in the top two after the latest round of Championship games, with Fulham having to try their luck in the play-offs.
Talking on The Debate show on Sky Sports (Wednesday, 10.30pm) Hinchcliffe was certain that Leeds would finally win their way back to the top flight this season.
“I’ve always said if you finish above Leeds you get promoted. I do think Leeds and West Brom will finish in the top two.
“Those two teams are the most consistent, they’re the best teams in the league.
“Fulham, Brentford and Nottingham Forest are good teams but they’re not the top two.”
Asked who would make the play-offs Hinchcliffe said, “Fulham, Brentford and Nottingham Forest. Then the final play-off place is open.”
Leeds are finding another run just at the right time and they’ve got another winnable game in front of them on Saturday.
Hull haven’t won a league game since New Year’s Day and they’re only four points off the relegation places.
They lost Jarrod Bowen in January and his loss has hit them very hard.
The only downer from Wednesday night was the 94th-minute winner for Fulham. Without that, they would be seven points behind Leeds.
Still, a five-point buffer means Leeds have promotion in their own hands. Again.
