‘Horrendous’, ‘Confidence is shot’ – These Leeds fans slam one player at h/t v Tottenham

Leeds United and Tottenham meant it was Bielsa v Mourinho in the respective dugouts this lunchtime.

It’s fair to say that both managers approach the game in a different way. Bielsa goes for the jugular, Mourinho prefers to park his bus.

The big worry for Leeds fans was the makeshift backline, with Heung-min Son and Harry Kane providing a very real threat.

Luke Ayling has been an absolute rock at the back in the past few weeks, and actually showing a bit of Ben White in his centre-back play.

However, he made a few mistakes in the first 45 and he attracted some criticism from fans.

He got away with them, though, unlike goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

His poor pass put Leeds in trouble and Gjanni Alioski ended up giving away a penalty that Harry Kane despatched for the first goal of the game.

Meslier has been brilliant for us this season but is prone to a sloppy mistake and at this level you just can’t afford it.

It wasn’t his only poor pass in the first half and while this Leeds side will always play out from the back, we need to be better. In his mitigation, it’s a high-risk style of play and the challenge that led to a penalty was needless.

It’s unfortunate as Leeds started the game the better side and had the best chance of the first half in open play through Patrick Bamford.

But it got worse just before half-time as Son scored from a Kane assist.

Here are the best reactions from Leeds fans to Meslier’s first half…
