'What a game' - Holloway blown away by 'Absolutely outstanding' Leeds ace v Blues

Now that the dust has settled from Sunday’s 5-4 victory at Birmingham for Leeds United, we can tell everyone to breathe.

Losing the lead three times in the game at St Andrew’s, it had a familiar feeling of disappointment before the injury-time winner.

That came as no surprise though after not managing to pick up a single win in the previous three games.

Luke Ayling was at the centre of everything, scoring the third, and managing to set up the final two goals to secure the victory.

Ian Holloway was blown away by the defender at St Andrew’s, claiming he was one of the catalysts behind Leeds finally managing to pick up three points in the Championship.

“Luke Ayling just summed it up for me,” he said on EFL on Quest [29/12].

“I thought he was absolutely outstanding today. There was a real important tackle in there, Luke’s scored his first goal, made two others.”

“What a game he’s had.’

Ayling’s goal and two assists sent the travelling fans crazy, and that sort of performance could definitely set Leeds on their way to yet another winning run.

When the right-back is in form, there is no doubting the fact that he is one of the best in the Championship. Not many can get forward to the effect Ayling does as well as being strong when called upon at the back.

The relief was there to see when his cross was turned into his own net by Wes Harding, and it sends Leeds into the massive clash against West Brom in great confidence.
