'Hit and miss' - Swansea ace dubbed 'Outstanding' this week doubtful for clash v Leeds

Swansea City might have to make do without defender Ben Cabango when they welcome Leeds United to the Liberty Stadium this weekend.

Cabango, 20, was hailed as “outstanding” by Swansea manager Steve Cooper after he scored in the 3-1 win over Birmingham earlier this week but there are doubts surrounding whether he will be fit enough to face Leeds on Sunday.

The Wales Under-19 international has had an impressive breakthrough season at the Liberty, appearing 20 times in all competitions with his goal on Wednesday night being his first in professional English football.

But Cooper is now sweating over his fitness as Swansea prepare to take on the Championship leaders.

“We’re still in recovery. Ben is at a stage where it’s a bit hit and miss,” said Cooper on Friday, as quoted by WalesOnline.

“We’ve got another day tomorrow to check the status of the lads physically and mentally.

“He’s one to fight through the knocks and niggles.

“I’m very happy with Ben, and we have been all of the season, especially since he broke in.”

Swansea’s defence is looking a bit thread-bare ahead of this weekend’s action.

Not only is Cabango a doubt but Ben Wilmot and Joe Rodon are unavailable.

Leeds fired five past Stoke on Thursday night to move top of the Championship table and five points clear of third place.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men are starting to fire on all cylinders and if your defence isn’t up to scratch, it’s likely that the Whites will take advantage of it.

Helder Costa, Jack Harrison, Pablo Hernandez and Patrick Bamford all impressed against the Potters and it will take a lot to stop them from extending Leeds’ unbeaten run.

We expect Leeds to beat a fully-fit Swansea team but knowing they have a bit of a defensive injury crisis boosts our confidence even more.
