Henry Winter raves about Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich
Henry Winter has showered heaps of praise on midfielder Mateusz Klich as Leeds United won 3-1 against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup clash at Elland Road.
After a nervy start, the home side looked in control when Luis Sinisterra scored from 25 yards out. However, it was Klich who eventually stole the show with two goals and a fabulous midfield display.
The Times senior journalist was left in awe of his vision and precision and declared him the “best player” on the pitch on Twitter after he scored the third goal for the Whites.
Winter wrote on Twitter: “Mateusz Klich, best player on the pitch, all vision and precision, makes it 3-1.”
This could be a turning point in Klich’s career.
In the past two or three seasons, Klich was a regular starter at the club. In fact, under Marcelo Bielsa, he was always the first name on the team sheet.
However, his performance dropped considerably last season, and Jesse Marsch even failed to guarantee his future.
The Whites boss respects him and he had some doubts about his consistency. Klich has probably silenced his critics and this performance will give joy to the manager.
He will be delighted to see one of his senior players absolutely bossing the midfield. And he will demand more of such performances in the coming matches.
This performance could also earn him a move away from Elland Road. His admirers could be watching this and they could make a move for him as well.
In fact, all the senior players have put in a terrific shift during the game. It was intense content but Leeds had more quality that their opponent.
