Phil Hay: Joe Gelhardt surely involved in some capacity for Leeds v Arsenal
All eyes will be on Leeds United sensation Joe Gelhardt as the Whites take on Arsenal in the Carabao Cup this evening.
The former Wigan talent came off the bench and sparked the comeback against Wolves on Saturday, winning the last-gasp penalty for Rodrigo to smash home.
Phil Hay has shared that Gelhardt is “surely” set to be involved in some capacity, if not definitely starting.

Writing in his pre-match Q&A for The Athletic, Hay responded to numerous fans calling for the attacking sensation to start.
“I guess the big question is whether Joe Gelhardt starts,” he wrote.
“And if not, he will surely feature in some capacity after his performance on Saturday.”
Surely…
Gelhardt simply has to start this evening, and he has earned that more than anyone coming up from the under-23s in recent weeks.
Charlie Cresswell and Crysencio Summerville have also shined around the first-team, and that academy trio appear most likely to have an impact at The Emirates.
Another interesting one to watch will be Sam Greenwood.
Having arrived from Arsenal last year, the striker has played in the FA Cup for the senior side and will be looking to haunt his former side in front of a packed Emirates.
With Gelhardt and likely Tyler Roberts ahead of him, though, he may be forced to settle for a place on the bench at first.
Everyone wants to see Gelhardt, let’s hope they get that wish – hopefully from the start too, it’s time to show everyone.
