‘Has to go’, ‘No idea why he is playing’ – Some Leeds fans rage at ‘awful’ player after 3-0 loss
Mateusz Klich’s performance against Tottenham has caused a number of Leeds United fans to call for the midfielder to be dropped from the starting XI.
Leeds were outclassed by their hosts, falling to a 3-0 defeat, as the gap between a regular Champions League hopeful and a newly promoted side proved to be substantial.
Klich was one of a number of Leeds players who failed to impress, and some fans were quick to hold the midfielder to account over his abject display.
Per WhoScored ratings, Klich was awarded a score of 5.8, with only Ezgjan Alioski, who gave away the penalty for the first Spurs goal, given a lower rating (5.6).
He made zero tackles and interceptions, while no Leeds player was dispossessed more times than Klich (twice, level with Raphinha).
As a result, some Leeds fans took to Twitter to vent their frustrations at the Poland international, as seen below…

However, we think this is rather tough on Klich, given the 30-year-old has weighed in with three goals and five assists for Leeds this season.
He’s been an absolute monster for Leeds since Marcelo Bielsa arrived.
Furthermore, he was withdrawn against West Brom on Tuesday in their 5-0 Hawthorns thrashing, amid concerns he had picked up an injury.
He was therefore a doubt for the Spurs clash, with Jamie Shackleton primed to take his spot.
Given he has started every single Premier League game for Leeds for the past two seasons (bar Derby when the Championship was won), Klich could perhaps be forgiven for feeling the effects of the intensity levels that Marcelo Bielsa demands of his team.
A brief rest might do Klich some good, and give him some vital respite ahead of an important second half of the season for Leeds.
He’ll get that next week as we’re sure Bielsa is going to roll out the Under-23s for Crawlry in the FA Cup.
