Ian Wright has said that Leeds United are going to give someone a “real hiding” after their 1-0 win against Everton on Saturday.
The Sky Sports pundit was talking on Premier League Productions Match Day Extra after the game over the weekend that’s seen Leeds jump to 12th in the table, just two points behind Everton.
“I like Leeds a lot,” said Wright. “I like their philosophy, they don’t ever change the way they play.
“They make a lot of chances and someone, at some stage, is going to get a real hiding off Leeds once they start taking their chances.”
Leeds are attacking the Premier League and creating a large number of chances in every game they play.
They scored one against Everton but should have scored more, with an xG of over 3.
They didn’t score against Arsenal but had an xG of 1.96.
A stat on Match of the Day showed exactly how many chances Leeds are creating.
In a table for Most Shots in Games this season, Leeds feature in four of the top six.
Wright isn’t the only pundit who’s making this prediction, either.
Ahead of the game against Everton Vinnie Jones said that Leeds would give someone a “tanking” soon, although he didn’t think that would be against Everton.
He predicted that Leeds would edge a tight encounter and he got that spot on.
We can’t say how much we hope that the “tanking” or “hiding” as Wright predicted comes against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Imagine the post-match interview with Frank Lampard: “We do tankings too.”
