Georginio Rutter slammed over ‘unnecessary’ Leeds United incident v Norwich City
Andy Hinchcliffe has criticised Georgino Rutter after putting Leeds United under further pressure against Norwich City on Sunday (12 May).
After the home side dominated the majority of the first half the Frenchman looked to relieve some pressure by carrying the ball forward from defence.
This didn’t work as he dribbled straight into the opposition and gave the ball away to give the home side yet another opportunity to get forward.
Speaking on Sky Sports Football (12 May, 12:19pm), Hinchcliffe slammed Rutter for this and suggested a simple clearance would have been the better option.
He said: “It’s unnecessary. Just clear your lines. That’s what the problem is having a player like that back there in that area.”
“He’s trying to dribble past an opponent. Row Z was calling.”
How did Leeds United perform in the first half v Norwich City?
It is safe to say that the home side was the better of the two for the majority of the half despite having a similar amount of possession.
The Whites did have the ball in the net through Junior Firpo after Rutter bundled the ball past Shane Duffy and Angus Gunn.
It was chalked off as the linesman had his flag up against the forward as he was deemed to be narrowly offside.

This was a warning sign that Leeds are still there and posed an attacking threat of their own after being behind the ball a lot of the time.
The first 45 ebbed away as the players came to terms with the heat after a tense 45 where both sides had their moments.
Coming into the second half, Leeds need to take their chances when they come as Norwich have looked positive going forward.
Rutter could prove to make the difference if he steps up.
