Gary Neville shares ‘absolutely furious’ verdict in first half of Leeds United v Salford City
Gary Neville has suggested that Leeds United striker Georginio Rutter will be “absolutely furious” that Archie Gray did not play him through on goal in the first half of their clash with Salford City.
The Whites are taking on the League Two outfit in the second round of the English Football League Cup on Tuesday (29 August).
Leeds went into the match sitting 13th in the Championship table, with their opponents currently 10th in League Two.

“Rutter is absolutely furious with Gray, and I think he’s got a right to be,” Neville said live on Sky Sports Main Event [8.31pm, 29 August].
“He just pops it in there, I think he can play him in on goal, but he doesn’t.”

Must win
It isn’t a must win match for Leeds in the sense that they cannot afford to lose this game or it would spell disaster for Farke, but it is a must win in the sense that the boss could really do with generating some momentum in these early stages of the new season.
It would certainly keep fans on his side, with the Elland Road faithful also set to be very happy if their club went on a cup adventure.
More matches isn’t exactly what the manager needs as he tries to focus on the Championship, but it will at least provide him with the opportunity to give certain players a chance to show what they can do.
Injuries can occur in these games, but Farke should be viewing them as more opportunities to get his formula right. He will still be learning about his players, and learning how to get the best out of them takes plenty of time.
In other Leeds United news, the club’s bid to sign one player has hit the skids after a “violent incident” happened on Tuesday.
