Leeds United have come to the Premier League to entertain.

If anyone had any doubts about that, the first half of the game at Anfield will have put them right.

Five goals, three from the Premier League champions and two from the Champions of the Championship delivered thrills, spills and some horrible defending.

Leeds had an excuse – Pascal Struijk and Robin Koch have never played together and the former has only made five first-team appearances. It was Koch’s debut for his new club.

Marcelo Bielsa won’t have been happy with some of the defending but for the neutrals, it was breathless stuff.

Gary Lineker delivered his verdict on his personal Twitter account, hailing the goal from jack Harrison – “What an absolutely brilliant goal” and saying, “Great start to this game.”

He then said jokingly, “Football is so boring behind closed doors. Have a feeling this game might be on first on BBC Match of the Day.”

After Mateusz Kilch scored the goal to make it 3-3, Lineker said, “It’s 3-3 as @LUFC Klich again. They’re going to be really great to watch this season.”

Wow. What a game.

It might not have been the result that Leeds fans wanted but we can’t wait to see the highlights on Match of the Day and we’ll take real pride at seeing our team come up first.

Let’s not forget that this Liverpool side is one of the top five in the world.

Leeds matched them stride for stride, never looked over-awed, and kept up the pace for 90 minutes.

if this is how Leeds can play in the Premier League then we’ve really got nothing to worry about this season.

We’re extremely proud of the players, who have worked exceptionally hard over two years with Bielsa to earn this shot at the big time.

Every player seemed to up their game from last season and there will be plenty more fans who have adopted Leeds as their second team, after this.

And let’s not forget that Leeds had two goals disallowed too.
