Gabriel Gudmundsson blamed after ‘dangerous’ moment in Leeds clash vs Brentford
Leeds defender Gabriel Gudmundsson was an early injury concern for Daniel Farke against Brentford.
Gudmundsson has been a brilliant signing for Leeds since he arrived from Lille in the summer, but there was concern when he went down in the sixth minute at the G-Tech Community Stadium.
The Swede got up and was able to carry on after being caught on the ankle by Dango Ouattara, but it was a worrying start for the Whites.
However, the Elland Road ace has been accused of being at fault for the incident.

Why was Gudmundsson at fault for Brentford vs Leeds incident?
Gudmundsson has already had several fitness concerns in his time at Leeds, and he nearly had another one against the Bees.
However, Pat Nevin believes that the Peacocks’ star was to blame, as he could have moved his leg out of the way before he was caught.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live on 14 December (16:38 pm), he said: “That is a sore one, and I’m blaming Gabriel Gudmundsson. If you put your foot in there to try get a foul out of it, you might get a foul, but you might get injured. There are a lot of players doing that now, and it is a dangerous thing to do.”
Why Leeds need Gudmundsson to stay fit
The 26-year-old has emerged as a key player for Farke’s side, providing a great presence at both ends of the pitch.
Gudmundsson has been one of the best left-backs in the top-flight, a huge upgrade on Junior Firpo, who departed at the end of his contract in the summer.
- Gudmundsson has featured in all 16 of Leeds’ Premier League matches so far
- He has created two big chances and averaged 1.26 expected assists, per Sofascore.
- Defensively, he has averaged 3.5 recoveries, 2.3 tackles per game and 0.9 interceptions
He was vital in the win over Chelsea and the draw with Liverpool, and it is imperative that he stays fit for the rest of the season, as Leeds’ back-up options in his position do not inspire confidence.
James Justin and Sam Byram are not at the level where they can play in the division on a weekly basis, so the new Whites hero needs to maintain his fitness.
If he fails to do so and spends time on the sidelines, it could completely derail their season and hopes of staying at the elite level.
