Five players ruled out, Georginio Rutter could returns – Confirmed Leeds United team news v Birmingham City

Leeds United will be without five players for the Championship clash with Birmingham this weekend, but Georginio Rutter could return.

Liam Cooper, Crysencio Summerville, Junior Firpo, Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph remain injured and unavailable, but Daniel Farke confirmed that Rutter and Sam Greenwood returned to training.

Greenwood still won’t be available to play, while Rutter could travel after being evaluated in the next 48 hours. Wilfried Gnonto trained after refusing to play against Shrewsbury, but the manager refused to confirm if he would play on Saturday.

Ouch

As if the squad wasn’t weak enough already, not having the likes Cooper, Summerville and now Gnonto available is a real killer blow.

We already know about the problems we have at striker, but losing two of the best attackers in the squad outside of that is a huge blow especially when one of them is totally fine and fit to play.

Luis Sinisterra’s knee problem is an issue that needs to be watched closely too and Farke has to be careful not to lose him too otherwise we’ll be in real trouble.

Leeds United

On a brighter note the hope that Georginio Rutter could be in the side makes us stronger, and Farke knows who he can and can’t rely on when things get tough.

It’s a massive game at St Andrews and we can’t afford not to win any of our opening two games, so hopefully this thread-bare squad can get the job done.
