We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United
Paul Robinson has said that Raphinha will come straight back into the Leeds team if fit ahead of the game against Brighton on Saturday.
He said it didn’t matter who was playing in his position or how well he’d been playing, and added that Marcelo Bielsa should build his side around Raphinha next season.
Robinson claimed the winger was an absolutely essential player for Leeds now, joining that small group who will always come straight back into Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
Raphinha has missed the last two games – two draws against Liverpool and Man United – after being injured in the 2-1 win against Man City.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Robinson said, “Raphinha comes straight back in the side no matter who is playing in his position or how well he’s been playing.
“For me, he’s been the player of the season so far.
“He’s been absolutely outstanding, one of the bargain signings of the season.
“You just have to make sure he’s 100% fit, you don’t want him to relapse in any way.
“Get him fit, get him back in the side and build the Leeds team around him for next year.”
Marcelo Bielsa is a manager who’s loyal to his players if they playing well and getting good results.
Two games unbeaten against Man United and Liverpool would mean that any player would be unlucky to lose his place.
However, there are a few Leeds players who will always come straight back in if fit – Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips were two of them. Raphinha has been added to the list.
