Elland Road to witness something for only seventh time as supercomputer predicts Leeds vs Crystal Palace

Leeds United host Crystal Palace at Elland Road on Saturday.

With Daniel Farke’s future at Leeds seemingly sealed, the Whites have only one thing to focus on for the next few weeks, and that is getting results.

Crystal Palace made the trip to Elland Road at the weekend, looking to continue their impressive record on the road, which is the best in the Premier League.

However, the Whites have been excellent on home soil so far this season, setting up for what should be an exciting encounter on Saturday.

Leeds enter Saturday’s clash as underdogs

The Whites sit on 16 points after 16 games, which, as unspectacular as that sounds, is exactly where they need to be if they are to survive in the Premier League.

Historically, one point per game has averaged you enough points over the course of the season to steer clear of the bottom three, and that is likely to be the case again this season.

However, Leeds are predicted to drop below that average this weekend, with Opta‘s supercomputer forecasting an away win for the Eagles.

Palace have a 48.8 per cent chance of taking all three points at Elland Road, while Leeds have been awarded a 27.3 per cent chance of victory against Oliver Glasner’s side.

If that prediction were to come true, it would only be the seventh time that Leeds have lost at Elland Road to Palace in a league competition, with their most recent meeting being one of those times.

Bearing in mind there have been 35 league encounters at Elland Road, history certainly bodes well on this occasion.

How have Leeds fared vs Palace in the past?

These two sides have faced off against each other on 68 occasions, dating all the way back to 1921, over 100 years ago.

Inevitably, that game ended in a goalless draw, but Leeds have won 31 of their meetings with the Eagles since then, with Palace managing just 20 wins, though they have had the better side of the clash in recent years.

Palace hammered Leeds 5-1 at Elland Road in their most recent meeting, with Patrick Bamford on the score sheet for the Whites.

His goal actually gave Leeds the lead after 21 minutes, but a remarkable 30 minutes at the end of the first half and start of the second saw the Eagles score five.
