Darren Bent makes Leeds United promotion admission live on air after draw v Bristol City
Darren Bent still believes Leeds United will be in with a shot of automatic promotion despite their bore draw with Bristol City.
Daniel Farke’s side missed their opportunity to move to the top of the Championship table as they failed to create any real scoring chances in what proved to be a 0-0 draw at Ashton Gate on Saturday (26 October).
While the Whites were still the better of the two sides in Saturday afternoon’s contest, talkSPORT pundit Bent admitted that Farke’s side could be at risk of missing out on the top two once again this term.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Saturday (26 October, 14:28) he said: “It almost looked like they hoping on individuals having moments or brilliance to try and win the game rather than having a real clear plan and a real team strategy.
“It’s a long way to go and there’s still a lot of points to play for. I still think there will be teams better than them this season that could potentially go up automatically, but I fully expect Leeds to be there or there about come the end of the season.
“Whether it be automatic or whether it be playoffs, I think Leeds will be there or there about.”
What has happened to Leeds United manager Daniel Farke at Elland Road?
What was worrying about Leeds’ display at Ashton Gate on Saturday was the lack of conviction in Farke’s side’s attacking play.
The Whites kept Bristol City at arm’s length for the majority of the game and ensured that Illan Meslier had very little to do between the posts, but they didn’t take advantage of their dominance when they did have the ball.
Dan James and Willy Gnonto had individual moments that were impressive, but when they got into the final third they weren’t able to produce that moment of quality to beat Max O’Leary between the Robins’ posts.

Liam Manning’s side weren’t good enough to punish Leeds, but teams higher up the Championship table will take advantage of the Whites if they play in that manner again.
When this team are good, there is nobody better in the Championship. But when they are just off of their best, they look uninspired and incredibly flat. Farke needs to find a way to get the best out of these players week in and week out.
