'Dark humour' - Sky Sports pundit claims 'Nasty habit' could turn into positive for Leeds

Now that the dust has settled on the 3-3 draw against Cardiff City, Leeds United enter a tough run in the Championship which starts against Fulham.

Yes, the collapse was somewhat concerning. When you step back and analyse the game though, it was some of the best football we have seen under Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road.

Of all things, not many will look at that draw and think that it is anything but a negative – David Prutton is one of those though.

The Sky Sports pundit has claimed that the latest collapse in the Leeds catalogue could actually turn into a positive at Elland Road.

“There’s some dark humour somewhere in Leeds United’s draw against Cardiff City that is the essence of being a fan of this great club,” he wrote in his Yorkshire Evening Post column.

“It has a nasty habit of making sure you don’t get carried away.

“I do think it is a tremendous kick up the backside and going into Christmas it’s probably a good thing no matter how disappointing the result will have felt afterwards.”

Not many Leeds fans will share that view, but Prutton does certainly have a good point regarding the Whites’ recent performance.

It is still 11 unbeaten games for Bielsa’s men, and any fan would have snapped off your hand for a 10-point gap to third-place in the Championship at this stage in the season.

Last season, Leeds collapsed at completely the wrong time. Defeats to Brentford and Wigan over the Easter period put an end to a promotion push that was in their hands.

The draw is a timely reminder that the Whites aren’t invincible, and now they must go out and prove that it was a one-off by picking up all three points against Fulham.
