Danny Rohl makes ‘not fair’ claim after Sheffield Wednesday loss v Leeds United
Danny Rohl has said it is “unfair” to compare Sheffield Wednesday with Leeds United due to their financial differences.
The Whites hosted their Yorkshire rivals on Sunday (19 January) and came out on top with a 3-0 victory.
The scoreline wasn’t entirely reflective of the game as Wednesday put in a good performance although ultimately were no match for the clinical Whites.
Rohl defended his side’s inability to go until the end as said in his post-match press conference (quoted via Adam Pope): “It’s not fair to compare us with Leeds. Today we’ve faced a team [worth] £180million.”
Leeds United beat Sheffield Wednesday
Leeds are deservedly at the top of the Championship table this term after a very impressive display in the first half of the campaign that Daniel Farke will be hoping they can see through until the end of the season.
There is no doubt either that the club do have some of the most quality players in the league which does give them the strength in depth that other sides might lack meaning substitutions can be effective.
However, Rohl’s defence seems a bit far off given the scoreline flattered the Whites somewhat in terms of its reflection on the game.
The Owls gifted Manor Solomon the first Leeds goal with a ball parried into his path that James Beadle should have caught and that set the tone of the game.
The Whites did show their quality in the end and find themselves in a great position this term but the second tier is a competitive league and on their day, anyone can beat anyone.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have been backed to take advantage of their rivals’ financial situation in an £8million signing.
