Daniel Farke told to start Jaka Bijol against Burnley after sensational scenes away from Leeds United

Jaka Bijol has had a tough start to his Leeds United career to date.

The centre-back has rarely featured for the Peacocks, with his only appearance coming in Leeds’ defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup.

Instead, the defender has regularly featured on the bench for Daniel Farke’s side, remaining as an unused substitute.

As a result, Bijol is far from happy with the situation at Leeds United, with the defender being highly rated in the Serie A before his move.

Now, calls for the 26-year-old to make his first Premier League appearance for the West Yorkshire side have gotten louder.

Jaka Bijol shines for Slovenia

In October, multiple Leeds players were called up for international duty, and Bijol wasn’t left out.

The defender is a regular for Slovenia and has 65 caps to date.

With the nation looking to qualify for the World Cup, they picked up a valuable point on Monday as they drew 0-0 with Switzerland.

This has left qualification in their hands, with Slovenia being four points off Kosovo in second, with the two countries still to play each other in the remaining two games.

As a result, many players were praised for their display on Monday, particularly Bijol, who managed to keep Breel Embolo quiet.

Rating Slovenia’s stars, Ekipa, on 14 October, gave the Leeds defender a 7.5/10, commenting: “If Leeds manager Farke watched the game, then Bijol will start the Premier League clash this weekend.

“He played without a mistake; Embolo was invisible next to him.”

How good was Jaka Bijol vs Switzerland?

According to Sofascore on 14 October, Bijol had an outstanding game against Switzerland.

The defender completed four interceptions, two clearances and won two ground duels.

As a result, he was rewarded a 7.5 rating, the joint-highest of any Slovenian player on the pitch.

Now, Farke has to consider giving the defender minutes in the coming weeks.

If not, the Peacocks are at risk of losing a player who clearly has quality, and this could be a mistake that comes back to bite Leeds in the future.
