Daniel Farke spotted in disbelief vs Man City at Elland Road – this is why

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke was left stunned in their 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday.

Leeds were the better team for much of the first half at Elland Road, but they failed to capitalise on their momentum.

Antoine Semenyo ultimately scored the only goal of the contest, as Farke‘s side were brushed aside despite a spirited performance.

One moment in particular had the Whites boss not believing what he had just witnessed on 28 February.

What shocked Daniel Farke in Leeds loss?

In the opening stages of the contest, Dominic Calvert-Lewin had the chance to score the first goal, but he could not finish.

Brenden Aaronson got free down the right-flank and found the Peacocks’ talisman with his cross, and the 28-year-old hit it wide with his side-footed effort.

Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth shared the manager’s reaction, saying: “Farke can’t believe he’s missed it. DCL can’t believe he’s missed it.”

Why Leeds cannot concern themselves with Man City result

The LS11 side cannot get themselves too down about a narrow loss to the potential champions-elect.

They gave as good as they got and were unlucky not to at least be level by the end of proceedings, which is a testament to how they are performing right now.

They just need to keep winning their games against teams around them, and they will secure another campaign in the top-flight, without having to beat the big boys

They still play West Ham, Wolves and Tottenham, who are all in relegation danger, so their fate is very much in their own hands, regardless of the City result.

Farke will hope that his side can take confidence from the result, even if it did not go their way this time around, and use it to fuel their next few performances.

It is far from a disaster for the Yorkshire outfit, and they should not be in their heads, for the remainder of the campaign.

If they just play the way they have been since Farke made his tactical adjustments against Pep Guardiola’s side last time, they should be fine.

On another day, Calvert-Lewin scores the chance and makes it a very nervous game for the Citizens, but it should not matter in the grand scheme of things, as long as the Peacocks do not slip up.
