Daniel Farke recalls bad blood with referee after contentious Leeds decisions vs Tottenham
Leeds’ unbeaten home record came to an abrupt end after losing 2-1 to Tottenham.
Goals from Mathys Tel and Mohamed Kudus were enough to win this tight game for Spurs.
Noah Okafor had initially equalised for Leeds, who had chances to equalise again late in the second half but couldn’t take them.
Leeds also had a penalty denied when Pascal Struijk appeared to be dragged down in the 95th minute, but referee Thomas Bramall wasn’t interested.

Daniel Farke brings up previous frustrations with referee Thomas Bramall
Daniel Farke was questioned about Bramall’s performance after the game, and his frustrations were clear to see.
The journalist suggested that every challenge was being given as a free-kick in the first half, while seemingly nothing was being given later on.
Farke tried to give a non-committed answer, but couldn’t help but reveal some previous frustrations he had with the referee.
He said: “I have to be careful and do not like to comment [on officials]. Last time we had this referee, it was a big talking point and I got a letter. Leave it to other people to comment. I cannot influence this.”

Bramall has been newly promoted to the Premier League. The only other time that he has refereed Leeds was also a frustrating afternoon for the Peacocks – a 1-1 draw away at Luton.
The Leeds boss suggested he was proud of his team outplaying Tottenham and how far they’d progressed to be able to do that.
He suggested that Tottenham only won the game because they took enough of their chances, while Leeds could not.

Leeds can be encouraged by their battling performance
It would be difficult to argue with Farke’s statement that Leeds were better in every area apart from the scoreline.
- They had more possession
- They had more efforts on goal
- They had a legitimate shout for a penalty in the last minute.
This is becoming a notable pattern in the games that Leeds don’t win.
Other than the 5-0 mauling at Arsenal where they were well beaten, they could argue that they deserved more from the games that they have lost or drawn.
Farke chose to see the positive side of this, although Leeds will need to learn how to make the most of their chances sooner or later.
Daniel Calvert-Lewin wasted a lot of good chances, while Joel Piroe will have imagined himself doing better with his late effort on goal.
With all that said, Leeds have eight points from seven games and some encouraging performances to boot. Most of those of a Leeds persuasion will have taken that before the season started.
