Daniel Farke ‘makes Joel Piroe blunder’ — Leeds United confirmed XI v Millwall
Daniel Farke has made a major error with Joel Piroe, as Leeds United have confirmed their starting lineup against Millwall.
Elland Road hosts Alex Neil’s team on Wednesday (12 March) as the Whites look to bounce back from the defeat in their previous fixture.
Portsmouth were victorious at Fratton Park on 9 March as they beat the West Yorkshire outfit 1-0, ending their 17-game unbeaten streak.
Farke’s team have dropped down to second in the Championship and need a positive result to pip Sheffield United to the top spot, but that may be easier said than done.

Leeds confirm starting lineup v Millwall
Farke has made one change to his starting lineup, as confirmed by the club on X (12 March), with Illan Meslier continuing in goal despite not having the best of seasons.
The defence remains unchanged with Jayden Bogle, Joe Rodon, Pascal Struijk and Junior Firpo.
In the middle of the park, Ao Tanak continues, but Ilia Gruev has been dropped for Joe Rothwell.
Leeds have started with Danie James, Brenden Aaronson and Manor Solomon, with Piroe once again leading the attack.

Piroe starts as Leeds confirm XI v Millwall
Farke’s aim will be Premier League promotion, and failure to do so may lead to questions around his future at the Whites.
Piroe has been influential at Elland Road with his goal contributions this season, but his performance against Portsmouth wasn’t encouraging.
It seems like fatigue has gotten to the Dutch forward, and it would have made sense to let the 25-year-old rest and get his bearings before another start.
The former Swansea City forward is the leading goalscorer for the Peacocks this season, but some of his application during games can leave a lot to be desired.
Competition (2024/25) | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Championship | 36 | 15 | 6 |
With the West Yorkshire outfit going through a difficult period, Farke needs all his players to give their all at Elland Road.
Mateo Joseph is the other centre-forward at the German manager’s disposal, but the Spaniard hasn’t been afforded regular game time after being a key player at the start of the campaign.
Patrick Bamford is on the sidelines, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him leave the Peacocks at the end of the season.
Farke needs to experiment more with his attack and look to bring more out of his other forwards to help lighten the burden on Piroe.
The supporters will hope the starting lineup is strong enough to beat Millwall.
