Daniel Farke makes instant admission straight after Leeds United loss v Millwall

Daniel Farke has congratulated Millwall for being more effective than Leeds United in the defeat at The Den on Wednesday.

The Whites have seen their eight-game unbeaten run end on 6 November as a first half Japhet Tanganga goal was enough for the home side to secure the points.

The Lions took the lead before dropping behind the ball to frustrate Leeds and limit them to few clear-cut chances despite maintaining 75 per cent possession [FotMob].

Speaking after the match, transcribed by the Yorkshire Evening Post (6 November), Farke was accepting of the result and praised his opposition for their performance.

He said: “Congratulations to Millwall for excellent defending and efficiency. They were more effective at using their chances than us. We have to accept it.”

It had been a positive run of form for Leeds which has seen them cope with injuries to Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev extremely well.

It will be frustrating to Farke and his players that this run has come to an end against Millwall who failed to truly impact the Whites’ defence more than once.

This is all it took in the end as Tanganga showed the finishing of a centre forward despite being a centre back, something which the away side lacked in the end.

There were some positive moments from the likes of Willy Gnonto but even he was ultimately frustrating for supporters before being hooked before full time.

On another day, Leeds may have been more clinical and won the game but a lack of incisive play cost them in the end which is frustrating.

It is positive to see Farke react so gracefully and shows that he knows this shouldn’t knock his side as it still leaves them third in the Championship.
