Daniel Farke livid with Leeds players despite 24-year first vs Manchester United
Leeds United secured a crucial Premier League point with a 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Elland Road on Sunday.
Brenden Aaronson was superb for Leeds and opened the scoring for Daniel Farke’s side midway through the second half on 4 January.
However, Man United hit back just three minutes later, with Matheus Cunha slipping the ball past Lucas Perri to level the contest.
The Whites have moved eight points clear of the Premier League relegation zone with the draw, as well as achieving a 24-year first.
Leeds continue superb unbeaten run vs Man United
Since the start of December, Leeds have looked like a completely different side in the Premier League.
The West Yorkshire outfit are now on a seven-game unbeaten run, their longest in the top-flight since 2001, when they went 13 matches without defeat under David O’Leary.
On the way to recording their 24-year first against the Red Devils, Leeds have recorded famous wins over Chelsea and Crystal Palace at Elland Road.
Farke’s side have also secured draws with Liverpool, both home and away, as well as Brentford, Sunderland and now Man United.
It is a remarkable feat for a team that looked destined for Premier League relegation just five weeks ago, but the Leeds boss was still not completely satisfied.
Daniel Farke disappointed with Leeds performance
Despite holding Man United to a 1-1 draw at Elland Road, Farke admitted that he was disappointed that his side hadn’t secured all three points.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, he said: “It was not our best game today, football-wise. It was a bit scruffy today. We could’ve taken all three points, and because of that, I’m a bit disappointed.”
It’s no surprise that the German was slightly underwhelmed, as the Whites were far from their best against Ruben Amorim’s team.
The win was a very realistic possibility when Aaronson put Leeds in front, and Farke will surely be livid with the way his side let Man United straight back into the game.
In their fight for Premier League survival, though, this point could prove crucial come the end of the season.
