Daniel Farke has hidden weapon worth ’10 extra points’ as Leeds draw vs Man United
Leeds United drew 1-1 with Manchester United at Elland Road as they moved another point clear of the Premier League relegation zone.
Brenden Aaronson opened the scoring for Leeds midway through the second half, but Matheus Cunha fired Ruben Amorim’s side level just three minutes later.
Leeds are now on a seven-game unbeaten run, winning two and drawing five matches since December in what has been a remarkable turnaround.
There is one factor that has been crucial in The Whites’ revival, and it could help them secure Premier League safety come the end of the season.
Paul Robinson highlights Elland Road impact
As expected, Elland Road was bouncing for the visit of Man United, with the Leeds fans creating a superb atmosphere as the rivalry was renewed.
Speaking on Radio 5 Live, Paul Robinson highlighted how Farke’s side benefit from home advantage more than most in the top-flight.
Robinson said: “The atmosphere, we always talk about stadiums being the 12th man, this place for Leeds in the Premier League is worth another 10 points, it really is.”
Neither side were at their very best throughout the tightly-fought contest, and a draw was a fair result given the chances in the game.
| Stats | Leeds | Man United |
| Goals | 1 | 1 |
| xG | 0.91 | 1.58 |
| Shots | 10 | 15 |
| Shots on Target | 3 | 2 |
| Corners | 6 | 4 |
Leeds had more shots on target and corners over the 90 minutes, but Man United led the way in terms of shots and xG.
Just how important is Elland Road for Leeds?
Out of the 22 points that Leeds have picked up so far this season, 16 of them have come at Elland Road, which is just over 72 per cent.
The Whites have put in some superb performances at home, and there is no doubt that the atmosphere has played a part in driving the players on.
Leeds beat Chelsea 3-1 and smashed Crystal Palace 4-1 at Elland Road last month, as well as holding Premier League champions Liverpool to a 3-3 draw.
Farke’s side are now eight points clear of West Ham in 18th, and if they continue to pick up points at home, they will be in no danger of relegation come May.
