Daniel Farke goes in on Willy Gnonto after what Leeds United star did v Watford
Daniel Farke was seen going in on Willy Gnonto for switching off defensively when Leeds United were leading Watford 2-0.
A lightning start from Leeds saw them go two goals clear up within seven minutes against Watford thanks to goals from Largie Ramazani and Brenden Aaronson. Watford pulled one back in the second half at Elland Road on Tuesday night with the game finishing 2-1 to the Whites.
However, Farke was not holding back when he began to notice complacency creeping into Gnonto early into their lead.
Beren Cross of Leeds Live said on X: “Farke very alert to the danger of complacency. Getting on at Gnonto, who switched off as Watford passed through United’s right flank. Visitors have finally settled into some kind of rhythm. Putting together some half-dangerous moves.”
Leeds United can not afford complacency this season
It has been a fantastic start to the season for Leeds United however as soon as complacency creeps in, mistakes can happen and it can often lead to dropped points which in the long run, can be the difference between promotion or not.
It can be argued complacency crept into Illan Meslier when his howler gifted Sunderland a point earlier in the season and resulted in two dropped for Leeds.
It is a huge positive for Farke to be outlining issues despite leading a game as it demonstrates the high standards that need to be met if the side are to be a serious promotion contender.
Maintaining concentration levels throughout a game, in such a closely contested league, is absolutely instrumental to success as teams can and will punish you if they sense even the slightest loss of focus.
Leeds certainly have the quality to achieve promotion, however, incidents like this can and will come back to haunt you if they occur regularly and the Whites simply can’t afford to let that happen.
In other Leeds United news, Daniel Farke believes Leeds United would be in the Premier League now if Patrick Bamford was fully fit at the end of last season
