Daniel Farke ‘Furiously’ gesticulated at Leeds United star Archie Gray v Middlesbrough

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke was seen “furiously gesticulating” towards Archie Gray during the first half of the win at Middlesbrough, according to Graham Smyth.

The Yorkshire Evening News journalist shared the details in an ‘off-camera’ article for the publication’s online edition [23 April] following the 4-3 victory at Riverside Stadium.

Gray played a full part as Leeds recovered from behind and then later held their nerve to claim three valuable points in the race for automatic promotion.

Of the unseen moment involving Farke and Gray, Smyth wrote: “Farke furiously gesticulating at where he wanted Archie Gray in the first half as an open game caused problems for both teams.”

Archie Gray showing great versatility for Leeds United

Leeds were far too open in the first half – and the first half an hour in particular – as they conceded a couple of preventable goals.

Gray was playing in a slightly advanced midfield role and can be forgiven for being out of position given he has been used more as a right-back.

The youngster has been nothing short of superb in his breakthrough campaign at Elland Road, not least because of his versatility.

Farke thankfully managed to find a solution and Leeds were able to get the job done, even if it was not the most comfortable of viewing experiences.

The Whites now have two games remaining and you can guarantee that Gray will be one of the first names on the teamsheet for both of those outings.

Should he continue to take the advice on board, there is no reason why he cannot continue to get better and better with time.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are at risk of a 26-year first despite their victory at Middlesbrough.
